Accountability in Business: Establishing Your Individual Rocks

In the last two videos, we talked about setting our company rocks, our 90-day objectives that are going keep us on track to meet our one-year goal. We took those company rocks and we split them out amongst the different leadership team members, and we gave each person responsibility for one or more of those rocks. Now, each person on your leadership team should take a look at what rock they are responsible for.

Identify Your Rocks

Identify which rock or rocks that you personally are accountable for. You want get them onto an individual sheet that you are going to be responsible for and that you are going follow through on during the next 90 days. Not only are we going to include a specific company objective that you are responsible for, but we need to take a little bit of time to think about what else you want to accomplish that is going to help to improve you and keep you on track with meeting the overall objectives. Maybe there is some additional training that you are looking for, or some educational resources? Maybe there are some special projects that need to be done in order to facilitate the company objectives that you are responsible for? Think about what those things are, and list them on an individual sheet of the items. These are the specific objectives that you want to accomplish in the next 90 days. These are the one or more objectives that you are responsible for for the company, but also those that you personally want to see achieved.

Establish a Timeframe

Once you've identified these, be sure that you've identified the timeframe that you're going to get them done. You might actually want to accomplish some of these within the next 30 or 45 days, so go ahead and identify those timeframes as well. Now we know specifically what we've committed to, what we are responsible for, and what we're going be held accountable for. Coming soon, we are going talk about how you will be held accountable for those objectives. Thanks so much for visiting.
